About Induction Hardening of alloys steel

We are as a renowned service provider, engaged in providing reliable and cost effective Induction Hardening services across Kolkata, India. In order to render the job, we have hired proficient and diligent workmen who have extensive knowledge of this domain. Customers are provided the Induction Hardening services at reasonable charges.

Characteristics:

  • The process involves progressive heating of the components within suitably designed inductor coils generating alternating current of desired frequency - Quick Soaking - and immediate quenching by pressure jets of water/polymer solution.
  • "Quick heat-Quick cool" method ensures very fine surface microstructure.
  • Alternating current through inductor coils generates electromagnetic field including eddy current on the surface area of the job.The skin current produces skin heating only which excludes the possibility of mass effect in eventual quenching. So induction-hardened jobs always archive more surface hardness then volume-hardened jobs, particularly for big masses. In volume-hardened jobs the surface hardness becomes reduced by self-tempering due to evolution of enormous core-heat during martensitie transformation in quenching.
  • Quick processing means minimum time of soaking at the elevated temperature. So no scale is formed on the work surface.
  • Improved endurance limit is fatigue.

Case depth : Upto 12 mm (different ranges)

  • 0.8-2.2 mm with 450 KHz- machine
  • 1-3 mm with 30 KHz- machine
  • 2-5 mm with 10 KHz- machine
  • 4-8 mm with 3 KHz- machine
  • 8-12 mm with 1 KHz- machine

Applications:

  • Tractor and automobile components, crank shafts, work rolls, back-up rolls, piston rods, axles, shafts, gears, spindles etc.

Precision Surface Hardening for Alloy Steel

Our induction hardening service delivers exacting surface heat treatment for alloy steel components. The process enhances wear resistance and fatigue strength without compromising the materials core integrity. With precise control accuracy of 0.1 mm on hardening depth, we ensure consistent quality across complex geometries and sizes.

Automated and Scalable Solutions

Harnessing CNC and PLC-based automation, our induction hardening facilities accommodate a wide variety of component sizes and production volumes. Our operations are ISO 9001:2015 certified, guaranteeing reliable and repeatable results.

FAQs of Induction Hardening of alloys steel:

Q: How does induction hardening improve the performance of alloy steel components?

A: Induction hardening increases surface hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength of alloy steel components while preserving their core toughness. This improvement ensures longer service life and better operational reliability, especially for parts like gears and shafts.

Q: What types of steel components are suitable for induction hardening?

A: Typical components ideal for induction hardening include shafts, gear wheels, rollers, pins, and various automotive parts. Any alloy steel component requiring enhanced surface properties can be treated using this process.

Q: When should induction hardening be used over other heat treatment methods?

A: Induction hardening is preferred when precise, localized hardening is needed without affecting the core properties of the steel. It is ideal for applications that demand specific wear surfaces and fatigue resistance but require the internal structure to remain tough and ductile.

Q: Where is this induction hardening service available?

A: Our induction hardening services are provided in India, with facilities equipped for customized component sizes and production capacities tailored to customer requirements.

Q: What is the typical hardening depth and surface hardness achieved?

A: Depending on customer needs and component design, the process delivers a hardening depth from 1 mm to 5 mm and achieves surface hardness levels between 50 HRC and 65 HRC.

Q: How is process quality and accuracy maintained?

A: We use advanced CNC and PLC controls to automate the induction hardening process, ensuring control accuracy of 0.1 mm on hardening depth. All operations adhere to ISO 9001:2015 certified standards, guaranteeing process consistency and superior quality.
