About Gas Nitriding

Since the inception of our firm in the year 1998 in the industry, we are rated as a reputed service provider of Nitriding (Liquid-Gas) at Kolkata, India. This service is required for several industrial applications like automobile components, plastic moulds, gears and so on. Our Nitriding (Liquid-Gas) services are demanded and commended by clients for its timely execution, diligent workforce, hassle-free management and reasonably affordable charges.

Characteristics:

  • Improves hardness and wear resistance on steel surface. Hardness achieved is 300-350 VPN for carbon steels and 600-900 VPN for alloy steels depending on grades, surface condition of jobs and pre-nitriding heat treatment parameters. For special nitriding steels containing, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, aluminium etc as alloying elements, the hardness may exceed 1100 VPN even
  • Nitriding is a no-quench sub-critical heat treatment process. So along with very high skin hardness this process ensures good dimensional stability also
  • Nitriding is generally recommended as a finishing operation on tools/components after final grinding/machining
  • Improved endurance limit in fatigue
  • Good atmospheric and aqueous corrosion resistance
  • Improved heat resistance-surface hardness is retained upto 500oC
  • Case Depth: From a few microns to 0.4 mm (different ranges)

Applications:

  • Automobile components, crank shafts, gears, hot working dies, press-moulds, plastic moulds, HSS cutting tools, gauges, valves, bushes, flanges, shafts etc.

High-Precision Surface Hardening

Our Gas Nitriding service provides exceptional surface hardening by diffusing nitrogen into steel or alloy components, achieving up to 1200 HV surface hardness. The process significantly strengthens wear and fatigue resistance, making it ideal for automotive and tooling industries where component durability is critical.

Reliable and Versatile Cycle Operations

With cycle times ranging between 24 to 48 hours and batch capacities up to 500 kg, our nitriding is managed using both manual and automatic controls. This ensures consistent, repeatable results for a wide variety of part sizes and batch volumes, catering to unique customer requirements.

Meeting International Safety and Quality Standards

Safety is paramount; our service integrates fume extraction and atmosphere monitoring in strict compliance with ISO standards. Clients are assured of consistent quality, reliable surface uniformity, and safe working conditions throughout the entire treatment process.

FAQs of Gas Nitriding:

Q: How is gas nitriding performed and what materials are suitable for this process?

A: Gas nitriding is performed by introducing ammonia gas (NH3) into a furnace at temperatures between 500C and 550C. This process diffuses nitrogen into the steel or alloy surface, enhancing hardness and durability. It is compatible with a wide variety of steels and alloy components.

Q: What are the main benefits of using gas nitriding for industrial components?

A: Gas nitriding improves wear resistance, enhances fatigue life, and offers superior corrosion resistance. Components treated with this method achieve high surface hardness (up to 1200 HV), making them more durable in demanding environments.

Q: When and where can the gas nitriding service be carried out?

A: Gas nitriding services are available both on-site at your facility and in-house at our locations across India, offering flexibility to suit your scheduling and logistics needs.

Q: What is the typical cycle time for gas nitriding, and how large can each batch be?

A: A typical gas nitriding cycle takes between 24 and 48 hours, depending on the components requirements. Each batch can accommodate up to 500 kg, making the process suitable for both small and large-volume orders.

Q: How does the process ensure high surface uniformity and quality?

A: Advanced control systemsboth automatic and manualmanage temperature, gas flow, and timing parameters. Combined with rigorous monitoring and adherence to ISO certifications, this ensures uniform nitrogen diffusion and consistent quality across all treated parts.

Q: Which industries and applications benefit most from gas nitriding?

A: Gas nitriding is ideal for the metallurgical industry, tool manufacturing, and automotive components. Its especially beneficial for critical parts requiring high hardness, fatigue strength, and resistance to surface wear and corrosion.
